Bonnet/Hood release: Help please?

Can anyone suggest a way round my small problem? I have just pulled the Bonnet (UK) Hood (US) release and the cable has snapped with the lid firmly closed.
How can I open the lid without using this?
Is this a common fault? (if so it may help getting the dealer to look at under warranty)
The car is one of the 1st 57 style Coopers reg Dec 06

None that I know of. Sounds like a trip to the dealer is warranted and it should be under warranty.

hi this is a very common problem and i will be coverd under warrenty if you ring them first thing they schould be able to fix it the same day as its a safety issue not being unable to fill up the washers hop this helps
