hi everybody. new to the boards and having a blast poking around!
I have question about the "All 4" on the COuntryman. I have looked around and can't find a road test or anything where the car was tested in winter conditions.
We go up to the mountains now and again and I'd love to be able to take the car without worrying about snow chains!
Has anyone seen any tests or had any first-hand experience?
Thanks in advance!

I drove a COUNTRYMAN All4 last weekend while our clubman was being serviced. Nice car but I'm not sold on it yet. It was about 5 degrees out and the roads were crappy at best. In the snow covered parking lot at the dealer the car was fine. I drove a 6 sp manual, no auto for me (no 4cyl auto can get close to my A4 2.0T). The car was great in the snow, no problem and northeast ohio sees its share of snow (more than Buffalo). Would I ante up the 32 large for one? MAYBE. An X3 isn't too far up the ladder from there. If you're all about the new countryman, go for it. Throw a set of dedicated snows on it and have fun!

Excellent of you to reply. Much appreciated. Great advice too about the snow tires. Such a basic thing but helps a ton. I am still on the fence w/ the Mini Countryman purchase but that has more to do w/ family $ issues....
Thanks again.

Oh you know, just me answering myself. On my own post ...... :)
With the midwest getting blasted with snow it made me think of this billboard ... which itself might get covered in snow before too long ...
Also this will definitely provide enough "test material" for the "all4".....

Awesome video:

and also a rather impressive article about a snow performance test after a recent snowstorm somewhere can be found here.

Hope this helps. This is my 1st post here and I test drove an All4 today and am so impressed. It is definitely my next car.
