Ideal Mini aftermarket wheel size?

Thinking of picking up a Mini soon and I almost never leave a car stock so wheels are probably the first thing I'd change out, problem is I've never owned such a small car before. I've seen wheels sizes anywhere from 16" to 18" for the Mini but what's the idea aftermarket size? For example on the E90 3-series which I drive now 19" is the most popular aftermarket wheel size. Would love to see pics of some aftermarket wheels in whatever size you recommend.

If you don't mind performance, I say the ideal size for a 07+ MINI is 18".

The newer MINI have bigger wheel arches so I think that 18 fits the gap nicely.

I guess it also depends on the drop you're going for as well.

17s are best for size and handling, 18s dont look bad but the ride is stiff and bumpy so those dont help much. Dont go any smaller than 17s if u care about the way they look. If your lowering the car i wouldnt go any bigger than 17. Mine is lowered an inch fornt and back and 17s are absolutely perfect. GOODLUCK! lemme see some picks when u get them.

19's are definitely too big for this car! 17" for blend of performance/looks. 18" for more looks. But these are size generalizations. The weight of the wheels you get will be determine how much performance you retain from going with a larger wheel size.

+1 for the 17's
at least on the R53. Play with the suspension set up though. The most common comment I get is how stiff the Sport Suspension is compaired to the standard.

Drop the car a lil' and it will sit just right on 17's

Id stick with the 17" wit a 50 to 60 mm drop and you will have no complaints if your not sure i posted some pic of mine in the newbie section for you to check out.
