audible warning "gong" on start-up

Have just bought a 2003 mini cooper s 3 weeks ago. Fabulous car!
However, have recently noticed an audible "gong" type alarm every time I turn on the ignition. It is a single gong, and there are no warning lights on the dashboard, and the car drives Ok. I have looked through the owners handbokk but it doesn't mention it. :confused:any ideas?

Does the temp gauge flash 3 when you start it up? I had this perplex me the first time it happened on my 06, but dont worry, it is just the MINI telling you that the outside temp is right for black ice to form and for you to not push it unnecessairily.

Its just MINI's way of talking to you and keeping you safe.
