Is this a standard Cooper with the 5 speed?

You will probably need to take it to a shop to see if it is indeed the tranny or it might be a clutch problem.

5 or 6 speeds?

The 5 speed tranny's are notorious for going bad. Best to get it to a shop to check it out. What year Cooper is it?

it`s 5 speed and it`s a 51 reg
been 2 a garage they think it`s the cluch
