Hi
I'm really keen to here if anyone can help. I want to purchase a clubman and I have been warned they have huge amounts of problems - gear box, leaking water inside car, various suspension problems, steering difficulties etc. I would like to be able to prove the critics wrong, as I love the clubman, but don't want to spend the amounts of money required to purchase one and then have a host of problems with my dream car!!
Any opinions from Clubman owners would be fantastic,
Thank you

Hi I own a hot choclate cooper D clubman and totally love driving it. I read about blind spot in rear doors but this doesnt effect vision. The only problem I had was with sunroof jamming when parked in sun but problem has been solved. I recomend you buy the clubman handling is awesome and the extra space is a bonus and I just think it looks the business.

My 09 clubman is going back to the service center for the second time because of a leaky a/c hose. Twice now my floors have been soaked.

I got my mini clubman D less than two years ago. It is a company car so fortunately I dont have to pay for anything for repairs or services and luckily it's still under warranty.

Here are the problems i've had:
1. Water leaking into the headlights.

2. Electrics went mad causing my windows to go up & down by themselves. Ironically started just as I was heading into a car wash!

3. Backdoor (left) froze so it could not be opened meaning i could not load anything into the car.

4. The seal around the Backdoors leaked allowing the boot/trunk to fill with water.

5. The engine died while I was driving on the motorway, this was due to a valve stopping air from entering the engine.

6. Last night the alarm started sounding due to the drivers window bouncing up & down. I opened the car started the engine, closed the window and after twenty minutes it started doing it again. I had to leave the car unlocked so not to wake the whole street with the alarm sounding all night.
The window was fully open this morning and it drained the battery so the car will not start.

There have been other issues which can be put down to the incompetence of the service staff so I won't list them.

This car is DEFINATELY the WORST CAR EVER.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CAR.

As for the BMW service guy saying we all hate mini's and BMWs, I can say i didnt before I was given one. Now I tell EVERYBODY, who thinks my car is cool that it's THE WORST CAR EVER!!!!!!!

I'll soon be recieving a new car for work and this time I get to chose.

Happy driving in whatever OTHER car you drive.

I picked up the Special Rally Edition back in November when it hit the states and I couldn't be happier. Haven't had a single problem with it. (knock on wood) :D

I've had those exact same problems with my Clubman Cooper D, however the dealer fixed them and I've not have any other issues in nearly 3 years of ownership, I love the car, it's economical, looks good, handles well, comfortable.

I recently took the car on a 5700km road trip from where I live in Norway to Milan via Stockholm, Warsaw, Nuremberg, and home again via Hamburg and Copenhagen. The car never missed a beat even on the autobahn travelling anywhere from 130 kph to several top speed runs at 200 kph it still averaged 5.3 litres per 100km.

I love my mini clubman but this car has many problems. Leaky gaskets is one of them. Two weeks after driving off the lot I had the gaskets on both doors replaced after leaks were noted. Yesterday I noticed orange spots around the roof controls. That means either rust or mold. Either way its just another reason to bring her back in. I wonder if the cooper has this many issues?

Hi, I bought my Clubman in April 2010 after previously owning two Mini Coopers and oh boy did I make a huge mistake! I bought the car from Mini Cherished after trading my perfect Mini Cooper in for the Clubman and the problems began as soon as I drove it out of the garage. I instantly recognised that the wheel bearing had gone on the car, there were oil marks all over the roof, it was not valeted properly, security cover was missing, scratches all over the inside which I was told was all covered under mini cherished. Anyway, I immediately took it back and Mini did agree to cover the ten things I have listed but unfortunately it doesn't end there!

After four months of owning the car it was due a service so I took it to my local dealership and they called me to say that the car would not be back with me today as it is too dangerous to drive due to the track rod end fauling and wrecking the suspension and two back tyres - I was in disbelief to how this could have happened without me knowing about it but all they said is that I must have gone over a pot hole which just didn't add up because to cause that amount of damage and not know about it is ridiculous!! Anyway, they present me with a bill of £840 which I was determined not to pay because of the damage the car was in when I first picked it up - how do they know it was me who caused this when they hadn't carried out the 360 degree checks that Mini Cherish advertise?? I fought it out with Mini but all I got was a £200 discount. My argument was and still is that with the wheel bearing going at only 32,000 miles it only takes the previous owner to keep going into curbs for more damage to occur and I have been advised that this is probably the case so for me to cough up the money for damage Mini should have covered has really frustrated me to the point where I have written several letters to Mini Corporate and I'm still battling now.

That damage was in November and cost me £600 and now after an MOT in January I'm told it has gone again - how can this happen? They now tell me that I must have had an accident for this damage to occur - it really is a joke! I travel twelve miles a day to work on a good road, I'm 100% sure this is not me. The bill now stands at £700 just two months after the last work.

My complaints are with the car and Halliwell Jones, Chester who I have been trying to work with to solve the problems. I can honestly say that I have never received such poor service from a car dealership - they really need to sort it as their after sales service quite frankly it is diabolical.

If I were to give any advice here it would be to get the clubman checked before you buy it from Mini Cherished as in my experience there were no checks completed.

I will never go back to Mini which is a shame because I have been a happy customer for six years and to end it this way is a real shame. I have been told that BMW/Mini after sales service is bad but I really wasn't prepared for what I have been through.

My next step is trading standards as I'm determined to win this case.
