Electric sun roof

Hi, I have a Mini One convertible, albeit nearly 5 years old now and the mechanism has gone on one side. Has anyone else had any similiar probelms?

I have just had the same problem with my Mini Cooper which is 4.5 years old. It's going into the dealer on Thursday for investigation but sounds as though it could be expensive. However under the Sale of Goods Act 1979, goods should last for a reasonable time so is 4-5 years a reasonable time? - I don't think so. You have no alternative other than going back to a main dealer for repair as I have been told that they don't sell individaul components. I'll let you know how I get on

The main dealer, Ocean Mini in Plymouth investigated the problem and found that one of the roof frames had broken and the cost to replace would be around £3000, yes three thousand pounds!! They contacted BMW for some goodwill assistance and they have agreed to pay 70% of the labour charge and 100% of the parts so my final bill will be around £300!! What a result.

It is an unusual fault and I think that they helped out due to my low mileage. Good luck and let me know how you get on.
