I recently had the iPod adapter put in my car by the dealer. I was told it would charge and play both my iPhone and/or iPod (even showed them my phone - 3G). Unfortunately, it does not charge. Then I was told it would at least hold the charge (e.g. not lose any battery while "plugged-in") - not! Has anyone else experienced this issue? I feel a bit "sold a bill of goods" right now.

They lie all the time. The Ipod adapters do not charge the newer ipods. And there is no way that your ipod will maintain its battery life if its not being charged. U need to buy an older ipod mini. the you will be ok. your Iphone wont charge.

My 3G won't work in my 2006, however I simply put my old iPhone in "airplane mode", plugged it in, closed the glove box and it works like a charm.

I spoke with Mini USA and they are working on a correction. I would talk to your dealer as they are telling me it will be a free update to correct the issue, since I was promised it would work.

Also, I found the Scosche passPORT does work and I was "unofficially" told by someone at Mini, that people in their offices use it too. It works with the newer iPods and iPhone 3G (not sure of 3Gs as I do not have that... yet).

Hello, i was wondering if anyone has any experience with similar setup (06 mini + sneaky compartment + iPhone 3GS). Iphone only plays music through the stereo when i put it into airplane mode. If the airplane mode is switched off the phone is not detected by the stereo. Do you know if Passport adapter would help with this issue? Many thanks

I'm really not impressed by the iPod set up.
You have no control over the iPod, to get it on random you have to keep pressing a button on the Mini controls everytime you start the engine. And then it will play songs it's already played!

I've not got the specific iPod option but I bought the lead. And guess what, the sound has started to sound crackly. If I wiggle the lead it stops.
I don't know why that's occured but Im not happy!
