Hi
I have posted this to another Mini forum but I can not get someone to give me the clutch slave cylinder push rod movement measurement of a correctly functional non Verto clutch system. It is easy to due but takes 2 people just a few minutes. One to hold a scale or ruler between the slave cylinder and the release lever and then record the amount of movement upon full depression of the clutch pedal by another person and I would be forever in your dept.
I'm a new classic Mk3 Mini owner, but have wrenched and raced sport cars for over 50 years.
Our Mk3 1977 non Verto clutch release is very near the floor. I need someone who has a non Verto clutch in good condition to measure the slave cylinder push rod travel. I'm trying to determine if I have a hydraulic or mechanical clutch problem. There is very little play in the hydraulic actuation, The slave cylinder push rod starts movement with less than 1/8" pedal movement. One key is that the throw-out adjustment can not be made correctly. The release bearing plunger at full pedal depression is still 1/8" out of the flywheel housing boss. The mini was rebuilt in England in 2006 and I'm unable to determine if the clutch was ever right after the rebuild. I'm the fourth owner after the rebuild by Bill Richards Racing in Kent England with a new competition clutch. The car has less than 3K miles added after the rebuild.
