Whining noise from engine bay????

Hello and greetings to all.:)

My first post.

A whining noise is apparent. It's loudest nearer the power steering reservoir. The car has made this noise for some time.

However even with the engine shut off the noise continues. Only stops with the battery disconnected. The reservoir isn't low on fluid.

Have done a search, but not a great deal of info from it.

Can anyone help??

Car is an 2003 Cooper.

Sounds like it could be the power steering motor running constantly. they are common for this the only way it can be fixed is with a new motor which are expensive. recomend speaking to a dealer near you if you have a main dealer service history they may be able to send down a good will claim which BMW may pay a substantial amount towards the cost of the repair
