Hi all

I'm brand new here so please be gentle with me!

Myself and the better half have an 55 plate Mini. Its totally standard and we're second owners but has FSH.

My question is that I recently changed the rear tyres and found that they had worn hugely un-evenly across the tyre. Has anyone else experienced this?

I can understand how it happens on the front with the tracking being out, etc but I was suprised to find the same on the rear, as was the chap at the tyre garage too.

Both rear tyres had worn a lot more on their inside edges.

My real concern is that the car is now out of warrenty, if this is a common problem that should've been picked up at a previous service then I'd obviously like to approach my local dealership to get the work carried out.

Thanks in advance guys and girls, all help greatly received!!!

Richie

Does the car have suspension system performance upgrades? It's possible that the car has been lowered, which would definitely cause wear on the inside quicker than the outside. The dealer will not cover tires, even under warranty.

hi uneaven tyre wear on the rear is common with runflat tyers ive seen lots of cases and its perfectly normal its just the way runflats are , but saying that if you still have the tyers send them back to the manfacture with a letter and they schould reinburse you ive done it several times for my customers hope this helps

Tyre pressures also play a very big role in the wear of tyres especialy in runflats. because all the strength is in the sidewall a small amount of pressure loss will cause the tyres to wear on the edges considerably more
