The 2011 Mini Coupe and Roadster have been named to the 25 Cars Worth Waiting For list by Car and Driver. Here is what they had to say:

What they are: Sportier-looking, lightened two-seat variations of the existing Mini Cooper. The coupe will have a low, sweeping aluminum roof that is a departure from the brand’s boxier cars. The roadster will have a shortened windshield as seen on the concept shown in Frankfurt.

Why they matter: Mini needs to continue adding new models to grow its sales. These sporty versions will be joined by the Countryman crossover SUV, which is based on the Cooper.

Platform: The Cooper convertible’s bones are the basis for both cars.

Powertrain: Both will get the existing turbocharged engines from the Cooper. Output will range from 172 to 208 horsepower, the latter for John Cooper Works models.

Competition: Audi TT, Mazda MX-5 Miata.

Estimated arrival and price: Both should arrive in early 2011 and start at $27,000.

So the only difference between the "roadster" and a mini cooper convertible is a shorter windshield?

A coupe is a two-door car without a removable roof.

A roadster is a fancy way of saying small convertible.

Yea it seems its a raked windshield and roofline thats the difference, so the Coupe is going to make the current Cooper look like a sedan, which is the intention. Who knows, the cooper may have 4 doors one day soon...
