i noticed in my cooper that the brakes seem super sensitive from time to time. last night driving i hit the brakes to slow down as i was coming to a stop light and the car basically halted pretty hard when all i wanted to do was slow down. is this normal? is it just something these coopers have and i have to get used to it?
i've also noticed the amount of brake dust on the wheels. is that normal on these little guys?
thank you.

yep....lots of brake dust with the stock pads.
And the pads are very on/off. Not a lot of modulation in them.
Is your car pretty new? New pads sometimes gives pretty sudden stops. Should have more brake pedal travel once they're worn down more.

Hey how's the brake dust on hawk pads? And how is performance and life compared to stock?

I've used Haw on all my other cars as a replacement for stock. Braking is improved as dust is reduced. Only 1,100 miles on the MINI so far so no need to replace.
At the rate I've seen brake dust it should be a couple months...

Hated my Hawk HPS pads. Did not perform well at all for my driving which is fairly aggressive. Found the Cool Carbons at Bavarian Auto and love them. Much better performance and no fade.

You have to go thru the website to find them as they don't link products properly.
www.bavauto.com and just search for brake pads.
